NASA'S MARS MISSION 2020 : WITH ROVER PERSEVERANCE
According to the American great astronomer, astrophysicists Carl Sagan, "Somewhere, something incredible is waiting to be known." And there are hundreds of space missions launched throughout the history to know this "incredible" things in Universe. On 30 July mars mission by nasa 2020 name "Mars 2020"
which is the Mars exploration program. It is the latest and most advances launching in the red planet ever. Here are some curious information which you must have to know...
MARS MISSION NAME : Mars 2020
ROVER NAME : Perseverance
MARS MISSION TYPE : Exploration of Mars.
OPERATOR : NASA,Jet propulsion laboratory.
NASA MARS MISSION DATE : 30 July 2020 at 4:50 a.m. PDT (7:50 a.m. EDT),in Indian time about 5:20 pm
LAUNCHED LOCATION : Cape Canaveral Air Force station, Florida.
LAUNCHING ROCKET : Atlas V-541 rocket
LANDING : 18 February 2021
LANDING SITE : Jezero crater, a lake in Mars that supposed to be exist 3-4 billion years ago.
MARS MISSION DURATION : At least one Mars year (about 687 earth day).
NASA MARS MISSION BUDGET : $2.7 billion (generally Rs- 20,340 crores)
OBJECTIVE OF THE MISSION :The mission has four main objectives —
i)geological exploration of an ancient environment of Mars,
ii)understanding habitability and seeking evidence of past life,
iii)readying a returnable cache of samples,
iv) preparing for human exploration.
ABOUT ROVER PERSEVERANCE :
Perseverance manufacturers by Jet propulsion laboratory .It launch mass 1025 kg. Its carries seven scientific instruments to study the Martian surface at Jezero crater. It carries 23 camera in total, and two microphones. The rover is accompanied by the helicopter Ingenuity, which will help Perseverance to scout for locations to study. Also, its new upgraded devices can identify if there is any microbial activity in the ancient period; if there were possible ancient microbes, it would calculate how they evaluate and we can predict the possible human growth at Mars in upcoming periods.
HOW DOES THE ROVER GENERATE IT'S POWER ?
This rover generates its power from the Radioisotope Generator The A similar device Plutonium dioxide-coated RTG can generate more than 110 watts. For the backup purpose, they use two Li-ion batteries. ALL KNOWLEDGEABLE DETAILS
ABOUT INGENUITY :
Vaneeza Rebecca a 17-year-old student from Alabama who invented this helicopter drone and named it Ingenuity. This drone travels with the Rover for the demo test. Each 30th day of the mission rover launches this drone and tests its ability to fly in Mars. Every test includes a 5-6 m height from the mars surface for 20 minutes. This success demo will lead the drone to assure its place for future missions. It can fly more than 600 meters from the Earth's surface.
CONCLUTION :
"There is still a lot of road between us and Mars," said John McNamee, Mars 2020 project manager at JPL. "About 290 million miles of them. But if there was ever a team that could make it happen, it is this one. We are going to Jezero Crater. We will see you there Feb. 18, 2021."
So now its time to wait and watch til the landing. If it works perfectly then there will be a hope that the Mars is only the planet to Create a significant and unique place where People can live after the end of Earth's life.
